DECSYS
Discrete and Ellipse-based response capture system

DECSYS is a newly developed open-source software tool, which enables the creation and administration of digital surveys that can elicit both conventional (i.e. point-valued) and interval-valued responses. DECSYS incorporates a range of features, and is designed to maximise versatility for experimenters and usability for participants. Surveys can be conducted either locally or online, and results easily exported.

The source code is available on GitHub.

A paper detailing the software's initial release was presented at FUZZ-IEEE 2019:
Ellerby, Z., McCulloch, J., Young, J., & Wagner, C. (2019, June). DECSYS–Discrete and Ellipse-based response Capture SYStem. In 2019 IEEE International Conference on Fuzzy Systems (FUZZ-IEEE). IEEE.

A follow-up paper demonstrating the use of DECSYS in a real-world scenario was presented at WCCI 2020:
Ellerby, Z., Miles, O., McCulloch, J., & Wagner, C. (2020, July). Insights from interval-valued ratings of consumer products—a DECSYS appraisal. In 2020 IEEE International Conference on Fuzzy Systems (FUZZ-IEEE). IEEE.

The latest version of DECSYS is now online — please contact us to register to use the software.
